St. Theresa’s Girls Secondary School is an all inclusive three streamed Catholic sponsored girls boarding school uniquely situated behind the Kibuye cathedral, the seat of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kisumu, on the Kisumu- Kakamega Highway.
Founded in 1938 as a primary school to cater for girl’s education, it moved through several phases and in 1986, the management decided to heed the call for the first full girl’s boarding school within Kisumu town.
The school boasts of an administration office block, departmental offices, two laboratories, fully functional library, sanatorium, dining hall, standard classrooms, modern dormitories, and a playing field. There is also a school bus, borehole, school garden and bakery among others.
The school implements the 8-4-4 curriculum at the secondary level. We offer instruction in the following areas: English, Kiswahili, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, C.R.E, geography, History, Agriculture, Home Science, Computer Studies (new), Business Studies, French and Art and Design (new).
Games and sports such as: athletics, football, volleyball, hockey, netball, basketball and handball. Some of the clubs and societies are Drama and Debating Clubs, French, Math, science club, Wildlife/Environment Club, Young Christian society and Girl Guide, Red Cross, Changez and Peer counselors.
Each student can only join a maximum of two clubs and play at most two games, one term one games and one term two games.
